Daily Time-Audit Calculator
See where your day actually goes, not where you think it goes.
This tool was built by Serge using established research and public data. My work focuses on the practical side of focus, habits, and discipline. My tools are for educational purposes and give practical guidance, not professional advice.
Most people underestimate how much of the day goes to low-value activity and overestimate how much goes to focused work. Enter your hours below for a typical day. The total should add up to 24 hours.
How this works
Each category is divided by 24 hours to get a percentage of your day. The focused deep work percentage is highlighted separately, since that is usually the number people overestimate the most.
Understanding your result
There is no universal correct split. National time-use data shows wide variation in how people spend paid work, household activities, and leisure time across a typical day. Use your own breakdown as a starting point for reflection, not as a target to match against anyone else.
Important note
This tool relies on your own estimate of a typical day, which may not match your actual logged time. For a more accurate picture, track your hours for a few real days before entering numbers here.
Scientific basis
Category structure is informed by official national time-use data:
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: American Time Use Survey
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: American Time Use Survey news release
