Habit Streak & Recovery Simulator
Missing a day does not erase your progress. See where you stand and how fast you can rebuild.
This tool was built by Serge using established research and public data. My work focuses on the practical side of focus, habits, and discipline. My tools are for educational purposes and give practical guidance, not professional advice.
Most streak trackers treat a missed day as a failure. Research on habit formation suggests otherwise. This tool looks at your last 30 days, gives you a consistency score, and estimates how many days of steady practice it takes to rebuild momentum after a missed day.
How this works
Your consistency score is the share of the last 30 days you completed the habit. Your recovery estimate multiplies your missed days by a factor tied to habit difficulty: 2 for easy habits, 3 for medium, 4 for hard. Harder habits take more consistent repetition to rebuild the same level of automaticity.
Understanding your result
A score of 85% or higher is labeled Strong momentum. A score between 60% and 84% is labeled Rebuilding. Below 60% is labeled Restart phase. None of these labels mean you have failed. Research tracking real habit formation found that a single missed day barely affected long-term automaticity and recovered quickly with continued practice.
Important note
The recovery multiplier is a simplified estimate, not a precise clinical figure. Real recovery speed depends on the person, the habit, and the surrounding context. Use this as a general guide for how to think about setbacks, not as an exact countdown.
Scientific basis
This tool is grounded in research tracking real-world habit formation over time:
